Long before his son Hagnus Eben was born, Løghur Eben left the troll valley village to investigate humans. He said goodbye to his friend Egnur Vitr and went on his way on the dark and stormful night. On his way to the king's castle, Løghur met the guards Pål and Roger at a campfire. They were frightened when they met Løghur and ran to alert the king of Løghur's presence.
When Løghur arrived at the gate of the city where the castle was located, he met guard Erik. Erik stabbed his spear into Løghur, which hurt Løghur. This made him instinctively hit Erik into a tree, killing him. Guard Robert warned the king to stay in the castle, but the king refused. He said that he wanted to meet the troll. The king ordered them to open the gate.
After the king ordered the opening of the gate, the king asked what Løghur wanted. Løghur asked what the king had and the king said that they had gold, silver, swords, and horses. Løghur replied saying he wanted a horse. The king showed Løghur the way to the horses where he introduced Løghur to his new horse, Julius.
After the king explained Julius' military background, Løghur thanked the king for the food, picked up Julis, and started eating Julis, killing him. Løghur misunderstood Julius for being food. Guard Georg, seeing what Løghur had done and believing him to be a threat, whispered to the king asking if they should kill the troll.
Løghur, who could hear better than most humans, heard what Georg said, got furious, and picked up Georg. This prompted the rest of the guards to attack Løghur, but the king ordered them to stop. The king then asked Løghur if he could put Georg down, but Løghur refused and ran all the way home to the troll village with Georg in his backpack.
Løghur arrived back home and explained to Egnur who he had brought back with him. Løghur put Georg in a cage and started writing about his negative experiences with humans. While writing, Løghur would occasionally ask Georg questions about things he wondered about. Later, Løghur met Æru Skógbuandi, the mother of Hagnus. Because of Hagnus' influence as a military leader, he spread and popularized his father's works in the village.
Because of the friendship between Løghur and Egnur, Hagnus later married Egnur's daughter, Gregna Vitr. Hagnus and Gregna would later parent Ibus Eben, grandson of Løghur and former friend of Dovregubben.
